Hildur Jónasson

Hildur María Hallgrímsdóttir Jónasson (she/her) b. 1966 Reykjavík, Iceland.

Jónasson self describes as a printcentric, multi disciplinary artist. Her love of printmaking informs her art practice as she approaches her work with a printmaker’s eye. She explores themes of our relationship to nature at the intersection of the climate crisis, natural phenomena, folklore/mythology, and the intangible powers of nature. Hildur’s most recent body of work has addressed ecopsychology by utilizing plastic pollution that she collected from one of the most remote places on Earth. Jónasson’s work can range from small, jewel-like sculptures to large ephemeral print installations of ghost-like glaciers.
